- 1
Take two tablespoons of the pizza sauce and spread it over each slice.
- 2
The pizza sauce serves as the base layer, and not only will it give you that excellent tangy and tasty flavour for all the toppings but it tastes pretty well-flavoured. Be generous with the sauce, but do not go overboard with it so your bread is not soggy at all.
- 3
Then, place 100 gms of grated mozzarella cheese on two slices of bread. Mozzarella is the perfect cheese that can fill pizza sandwiches since it melts and has a very mild and creamy taste.
- 4
Spread out evenly over pizza sauce so that this slice of bread will be completely covered with cheese.
- 5
Put 50 gms of chopped onions, 50 gms of chopped capsicum, and 50 gms of sliced olives on the cheese.
- 6
Mix and sprinkle over the vegetables one teaspoon of mixed Italian herbs. This will bring all those oregano, basil, thyme, and the rest to add that classic Italian pizza flavour to the sandwich.
- 7
Add a little red chilli flakes spice for a slightly hot and extra spiciness.
- 8
Now, place the last two pieces of bread atop the prepared slices. Apply light pressure so they stick together but are not too hard to fall apart.
- 9
Use your sandwich maker or a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- 10
Apply one teaspoon of butter to the outer side of each sandwich before your sandwich maker or pan heats up.
- 11
Buttering your bread will give the sandwich a crispy, golden-brown crust, and your flavour will also be enhanced.
- 12
Once the sandwich maker or pan gets hot, insert the prepared sandwiches. Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and the cheese inside is melted.
- 13
A sandwich maker will toast both sides, and the cheese will melt beautifully. Using a pan, turn halfway through cooking to ensure equal cooking for both sides of the sandwich.
- 14
After a minute or so, about 6-8 minutes, pull the sandwiches out from either the sandwich maker or the pan. Let them cool for a minute.
- 15
Slice them in half. Your delicious pizza sandwich is ready to be devoured.
