Garlic Bread is an old favourite, reinvented recipe as a side dish or an appetiser. This savoury bread appears in a newly brilliant form with a puffy, airy interior, liberally slathered with an aromatic garlic butter spread. The spread usually consists of loose butter mixed with minced garlic and fresh parsley, adding a pinch of salt into a rich and aromatic mixture, giving bread its peculiar flavour. To assemble, slices of either baguette or Italian bread are slathered with the garlic butter mixture and assembled until the edges are crisp and golden brown. This can lead to a marvellously aromatic bread topped with a pleasing crunch and an eruption of garlic flavour. Garlic Bread can be served hot, often accompanied by pasta dishes, soups, or portions of mixed greens. It's a necessary ingredient, a great extension to any dinner, let alone for its satisfying surface and incredible flavour. Let's try out the Garlic bread recipe.

Ingredients required for Garlic Bread

  1. 33 gms unsalted butter
  2. 1/6 tbsp garlic
  3. 1 pinch salt
  4. Italian herbs
  5. 1 italian bread

Cooking steps for Garlic Bread

  1. 1
Preheat the oven to 180 C for about 15-20 minutes. Once your oven is preheated, your garlic bread will be ready to be put in. This step is essential to warm the bread until the full, rich and brilliant brown is achieved.
  2. 2
Take 33 gms of unsalted butter and let it soften at room temperature for ease of mixing.
  3. 3
Once sensitive, add 1/6 tbsp of finely chopped garlic, 1/6 tsp of mixed Italian herbs, and a pinch of salt to the butter. Fold these ingredients together to create a smooth and creamy garlic butter spread. Now, while we work on cutting our favourite French, Italian or homemade bread, we can set aside the garlic butter spread.
  4. 4
This spread will later come in handy while adding flavours to our garlic bread.
  5. 5
Now slice your bread loaf vertically in at least 1.5 cm thick pieces. Make cuts in such a way that you don't cut the entire bread. However, it should be easy to stuff the gaps with cheese.
  6. 6
Evenly spread the prepared garlic butter mixture on both sides of each bread slice. The sprinkling of butter mixture should be proper so that it infuses the aroma into each slice of the bread. This is a crucial step that completes the rich, garlicky flavour.
  7. 7
Crush your mozzarella cheese and some cheddar cheese. Mix the two cheeses in a bowl. Gently stuff this cheese blend between the cuts of bread. Be generous with stuffing the cheese since it'll break up and make a gooey, shabby center.
  8. 8
Now, wrap the stuffed bread loaf tightly in aluminium foil. This ensures that the loaf is baked evenly. Now place your wrapped bread loaf into the preheated oven. Allow it to bake evenly for about 15-20 minutes. This initial heating setup enables the complete melting of cheese and flavours to blend.
  9. 9
After 15 minutes, remove the foil and return the bread to the oven. Be prepared for an additional 5 minutes, or till the cheese is melted and the bread has turned a superb brilliant brown.
  10. 10
The bread now has a toasted exterior and a gooey and cheesy interior
  11. 11
Once the bread is ready, remove it from your oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. This step will make your cheese settle and cool down.
  12. 12
You can finally cut the bread into slices along the pre-cut lines and serve hot.
  13. 13
This garlic cheese stuffed bread is perfect for an appetiser or a snack. Serve with your favourite sauces.

FAQs

What kind of bread do you use for this?

French or Italian bread makes garlic cheese-stuffed bread, as it has a solid base and can hold its filling well. All these sorts of bread have a conventional exterior that crisps up well amidst preparation and keeps the interiors soft and intact. Try to avoid extra soft or pre-sliced bread, as it won't hold up nicely during the middle of the heating process and might end up too soggy.

Can I use any other cheese?

You're welcome to mix and match with your favourite cheesy filling. Although mozzarella and cheddar are staples of just about all grilled cheese dishes for creaminess and flavour, respectively, other cheeses such as provolone, gouda, or parmesan would also be unrealistic options. The curiously symmetric mixture of certain cheeses adds flavours and textures to the bread. The only thing to make sure of is that the type of cheese you use melts well so that you have an appropriately gooey, savoury filling.

How to store leftover stuffed bread?

Leftover Garlic Cheese Stuffed Bread should be in an airtight container or tightly wrapped in foil until refrigerated within 3 days. To reheat, place the bread directly into a preheated oven at 180 C for about 10 minutes or until heated through. This makes for a contrast and reinstates part of the initial freshness, keeping the cheese melted.
