Ingredients required for Fried Rice

  1. 250 gms basmati rice
  2. Salt
  3. 1 tbsp garlic
  4. 1tbsp ginger
  5. Carrot
  6. Beans
  7. Bell peppers
  8. Cabbage
  9. 1/4th cup corn kernels
  10. 1 onion
  11. 2 tbsp oil oil
  12. 1 tbsp soy sauce
  13. 1 tbsp green chilli sauce
  14. 1/2 tbsp vinegar

Cooking steps for Fried Rice

  1. 1
Rinse about 250 gms of basmati rice under cold running water. This ensures that excess starch is removed and your rice doesn't get sticky.
  2. 2
Soak the rice for about 20 minutes before placing the rinsed rice in a pot with boiling water. Add some salt to the rice.
  3. 3
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it onto a plate and spread it out, allowing it to cool completely. This essential step makes sure that the rice doesn't get mushy while air frying it.
  4. 4
While waiting for the rice to cool down, finely chop one tbsp each of garlic and ginger. The finely chopped aromatics are crucial to adding delicious flavours to the fried rice.
  5. 5
Chop some of your preferred vegetables. Some good options include carrots, beans, bell peppers, and cabbage. Make sure the vegetables are chopped in a similar size to ensure they are evenly cooked.
  6. 6
Boil and drain 1/4th cup of corn kernels.
  7. 7
Once the vegetables are chopped and ready, heat your pan and pour in 2 tbsp of oil on medium heat.
  8. 8
Once the oil is hot, add the finely chopped garlic and ginger, allowing them to saute for a couple of minutes while stirring constantly. We want them to be golden brown and not burnt.
  9. 9
Now, add your chopped onions to the pan, continuing to cook them until they turn translucent.
  10. 10
Add the chopped vegetables to the pan. Stir them well to combine with the onions, garlic and ginger. The vegetables should be tender but still crisp enough to retain texture in the final dish.
  11. 11
Add the 1/4th cup of boiled corn that was set aside previously. Stir it well, and mix it with the vegetables. Corn will add a burst of sweetness to the fried rice.
  12. 12
Now add the cooled rice, gently folding it into the vegetable mixture. Be careful not to break the rice grains.
  13. 13
Once the ingredients are well combined, it's time to add the seasoning. Pour in a tbsp of soya sauce, 1 tbsp of green chilli sauce, and 1/2 tbsp of vinegar. Stir again in such a way that the sauces are evenly distributed throughout the rice.
  14. 14
Continue to mix the mixture for another 2-3 minutes. The rice will slowly absorb all flavours of the sauces evenly.
  15. 15
Chosen spring onions are a must when garnishing your fried rice. They will leave your fried rice tasting crisp and add a beautiful colour to the dish. Combine the spring onions well, and turn off the heat.
  16. 16
Serve hot as a main dish or with dry/gravy Manchurian.
  17. 17
